As a Circuit Judge, David Overstreet presided over civil, criminal, juvenile and jury trial dockets for nearly a decade. Previously, David privately practiced law for more than 15 years.
In February 2017, Judge Overstreet was assigned to the Fifth District Appellate Court in Mt. Vernon. He serves on several Illinois Supreme Court Committees, including Strategic Planning, Judicial Mentoring, and Judicial Education.
Judge Overstreet was presented with the Freedom Award by the Jefferson County Branch of the NAACP in 2011.
He is a Deacon of the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ and is a coordinator of its Lads to Leaders program.
Judge Overstreet is a longtime youth sports coach and tutors kids in reading and spelling at the Nick Osborne Primary Center in Mt. Vernon.
